Drop Swirl Winners

April 2024 Soap Challenge

Drop swirls are made by pouring alternating colors of soap in lines down the length of a loaf-style mold. They are one of the classic design techniques and can be easily scaled up to large batches. We explored all types of drop swirls for this challenge! If you are interested in learning about all the different drop swirl variations, the tutorial from this challenge is available HERE.

Those who qualify for the regular category had to create their soaps with drop swirls only. The advanced category could add other design techniques to their soap as long as 50% or more featured drop swirls. The winners category was given the mandate to use at least one other design technique along with their drop swirls.

We are incredibly grateful to our sponsor The Good Glitter for providing prizes for our winners. The Good Glitter is completely biodegradable glitter. Because it’s made of eucalyptus cellulose, once it enters the waste water system, it’s seen as food by hungry enzymes that feed on waste. Owner Brittainy Martin is a former soap maker who knows that a good loaf of soap isn’t quite finished until it’s dusted with glitter!  More info about Bio-glitter HERE.

The grand prize winner in each of the competitive categories and the Sponsor’s Choice prize in the bonus category are receiving $100 gift certificates. Second place winners in the competitive categories are receiving a $40 gift certificate with a 20% off coupon code and third place winners are receiving a $15 gift certificate with a 15% off coupon code.

Feedback “As always, choosing a winner is nearly impossible. Every entry shows incredible talent! With that being said, the team has chosen Follow The Leader,  having just seen a real life version of the soap play out in front of us! The colors are beautiful, the swirls feel like Spring, and we love the little ducklings! Wonderful job!” -Brittainy Martin
