Q & A with Joanne Watkins

1. How long have you been making soap?

I’ve been making soap going on 7 years now.

2. How would you describe your soapmaking style?

I would say freestyle, I like to approach things from a different view. Attempt techniques not traditionally done with soap or done with a twist.

3. What is your background?

I am the owner/creator of Nature’s Potion Handmade Soaps. I’ve done several soap design classes for the Lone Star Soap and Toiletries conventions. I’ve done a tutorial for the Design Mania edition of Making Soap, Cosmetics and Candles Magazine. I am also an artist and create with a variety of mediums.

4. What else do you make?

I offer a full line of bath & body products, from soaps to shampoo bars. I sketch, paint and sculpt. This where I get a lot of my design ideas. I created Wicked Wahine Art to share my work.

5. Anything else you’d like to share?

I would like to say thank you to all the wonderful creative soapers out there. Your inspiration and passion keep the art of soap making alive.
